Don't go overboard with your internal linking or you risk overwhelming the reader. One or two relevant links per post is usually a good maximum, with more in longer posts. The three main pillars of Search Engine Optimization; content, links and site architecture will remain for years to come. Understanding which ranking factors are relevant to your industry is key to becoming an authoritative domain – especially in the competitive industries of e-commerce, finance and health. Keywords are still an important part of SEO, but relevance can often be figured in more abstract ways. Most marketers focusing on SEO break down SEO into onpage efforts and off-page efforts. And when focusing on off-page efforts, a common SEO mistake marketers make is believing that their site will receive more SEO traffic if only they can find enough websites to build links on.

Find out what keywords are already bringing traffic to your website

It is imperative that website owners and site developers engage in user testing. Without actually measuring what users are doing when they visit a site, one can’t possibly know how a website is performing. Setting the value of the "rel" attribute of a link to "nofollow" will tell Google that certain links on your site shouldn't be followed or pass your page's reputation to the pages linked to. Nofollowing a link is adding rel="nofollow" inside of the link's anchor tag. A greater number of people will stick to voice search, so SEO specialists will have to adjust to this relatively new type of search. Since the advent of Panda and Hummingbird, LSI is becoming increasingly important in SEO as it’s used by Google to determine between ‘keyword stuffed’ articles and genuinely relevant content. Despite previous assumptions, a link from a 301 redirected page shouldn’t lose any PageRank compared to a link from a non-301 redirected page.

Build backlinks

As it may seem obvious by now, there is more to writing SEO-friendly content than ensuring you get a healthy ratio of keywords Paid links are another no-no, whether another site linking to yours, or on your site linking to another site (except for banner ads and ad networks like AdSense). There are many on-page elements that go into optimizing a piece of content for the search engines – such as title tags, keyword placement, using multiple content types, topic modeling, etc. How do you add content to Google? Keyword relevancy and placement is far more important than frequency. Your keyword or key phrase should appear in the first 100 words of your page, if not the first sentence. Google is the dominant searchengine in many countries, but not all of them. How you optimize your website depends heavily on the target market for that site, and the search engines that (are) the most important in that market.

Incorporate relevant keywords

According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "You can use some practical tools that’ll make it much easier to find keywords. You will still have to make a short list yourself (no corners to cut there), but once you have ten to twenty proper keywords, you can use several tools to find similar keywords. Using these tools will significantly speed up the process of coming up with long lists of keywords." Any discrepancies might cause Googleto NOT show your business' information on a search result page. Keep in mind that you must write for your readers, and not for Google’s spiders. Don’t do keyword stuffing. There are domains which are better to receive links from than others. These are domains that are “trusted” sources and have higher domain authority. It is widely understood in the industry that search engine optimization should be built in, as early as possible, to the entire site development strategy, from choosing a content management system (CMS) and planning site architecture to developing on-page content.

Linking to popular or recent posts

Visiting a website and sticking in your credit card details in return for thousands of links remains an option but presents a greater risk than ever before. When you’re browsing the web, the content you come across can come in a number of different flavors. Often, the nature of the content can tell you a little about the owner of the blog/website too. Either this is a website belonging to someone who is mostly interested in their visitors and who doesn’t care whether they ‘rank’ or not; or it’s content that is clearly aimed at Google, with the visitors as an afterthought. Effective contentcuration, better accessibility practices and proper information architecture are all key components for strong SEO. Unsurprisingly, larger companies tend to outspend smaller firms when it comes to SEO. : Article marketing involves writing one unique article, and then rearranging the words to transform that one article into multiple versions. This rearranged article will then be placed on different, usually low-quality article sites with highly optimized anchor text links.

Go great or go home

The purchase cycle can sometimes involve a large number of clicks. If you want to promote your website by purchasing sponsored links, always use the rel nofollow attribute. There’s no other way. If Google finds that you’ve paid webmasters to build backlinks, you will end up with a hard to remove penalty. When optimizing sites for SEO most people concentrate on text searches, ignoring the vast number of image searches performed each day. Links are still a critical element to Google’s algorithm and their value needs to be protected. Search engine do not give you links that are counted to your link popularity. You need to write content that others want to link to. And in my opinion, if you are not passionate about what you are writing, then it will be hard to get links pointing to your content.
